Play Animeong: Our 38-Month-Old Twins Went Horseback Riding — Mom's Worries Were Completely Unnecessary

By Leevo·Twin Trails·Namyangju Day Trip

Our twins have two dream destinations: a swimming pool and a farm. They've had their favorite farm picture book read to them over a hundred times. So when we spotted a kids' horseback riding venue just 15 minutes from the Namyangju Light Tunnel, we didn't hesitate. That's how we ended up at Play Animeong.

What Is Play Animeong?

Play Animeong is a farm experience space in Namyangju offering horseback riding, animal feeding, and an indoor kids' play area — all under one roof. It's also connected to a kids' café, making it possible to spend a full day here.

"Is This the Right Place?" — Until the Retriever Greeted Us

🏡 The exterior — modest from the outside, but don't let that fool you

Arriving at the farm, we had that familiar "are we sure about this?" moment — it's a modest, temporary-looking building. But the second we walked in, a golden retriever bounded over to greet the twins.

Our kids had only ever seen small dogs at home. Facing a large black dog for the first time caused a brief panic — but within minutes, they were hugging and patting away. (The cat, however, was having none of it.)

The retriever won us over before we even saw the horses. Sometimes the best welcome is a tail wag.

38-Month-Old Twins on Horseback — Mom Was Wrong to Worry

We had so many concerns going in: Would they fall? Would they cry halfway through? Would the horse be too big and scary? Every single worry turned out to be unfounded.

The horses are gentle, the instructors keep kids safe the entire time, and the twins rode with complete confidence. The helmets and protective vests they fitted the kids with were almost comically adorable — we ended up with more parent photos than kid photos.

💡 Photo tip: Don't follow behind the horse — run ahead and shoot from the front as the kids ride toward you. The expressions are priceless. The instructor at the turnaround point will also take family photos, so look your best! (We showed up barefaced in hats and slightly regretted it.)

If the kids relax enough, the instructor lets the horse pick up a light trot — cue the giggling and screaming. It's a short ~100m course, but the impact is enormous.

Rabbits, Chinchillas & Ride-On BMWs

After horseback riding, the animal feeding experience begins indoors. Rabbits, parrots, chinchillas, and guinea pigs are all waiting — carrot sticks in hand, the twins were immediately in their element.

The indoor space also has a collection of ride-on toy cars — BMW, Porsche, and others — parked alongside One Piece wanted posters on the walls. They don't actually drive, but the twins took turns climbing in and out for a solid 20 minutes.

Geese, Goats & a Very Important Warning

Outside, the kids met geese, turkeys, chickens, goats, and horses up close for feeding. Wide open green fields, good weather, and constant laughter from the kids — genuinely healing for the parents watching.

⚠️ Goose warning: The geese will peck at anything near the fence, including tiny fingers. Our son learned this the hard way and kept his distance for the rest of the visit. Supervise closely and feed carefully.

The chickens had an unexpected talent for squeezing through the wire fence and roaming freely — which the kids found absolutely fascinating and slightly alarming.
